Kochi University ( Medical SchoolMedical School Hospital ) is carrying out a redevelopment project aimed at “promoting cutting-edge, community-based medical care and training medical professionals.” As part of the second phase of this project, the new hospital wing (Building D) has now been completed.
On Saturday, February 8, Reiwa 7, a ceremony was held to commemorate the completion of the new wing, attended by approximately 120 people from both within and outside the university.
The ceremony began with opening remarks by Kazuhiro Hanazaki, Director of the Medical School Hospital. Following an address by President Hiroyuki Uchida, congratulatory remarks were delivered by Katsuyoshi Kobayashi, Director of the Development Planning Office, Planning Division, Department of Educational Facilities Planning and Disaster Prevention, Minister’s Secretariat, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Kozo Hirayama, Mayor of Nankoku City.
Next, an overview of the facility was presented, followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the companies that contributed to the construction of the ward and to illustrator Maki Ogasawara, who created the hospital art. Congratulatory messages were then read aloud. Afterward, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, and all participants celebrated the completion of the new ward.
In addition, a preview event was held for those attending the commemorative ceremony, during which the newly established Emergency HCU and hospital art were showcased.
The ceremony concluded with a mochi-throwing event, held in a lively and friendly atmosphere filled with local residents.
The new ward began operations on Saturday, February 22. We will continue to provide safe, high-quality medical care in our new facility.
