Release Date:
Hiroki Akinari, a second-year graduate student in the Department of Applied Natural Sciences (Professor Katsunobu Mori’s Laboratory, Faculty of Science and Engineering), and Ayaka Shiromu, a second-year graduate student in the Department of Science and Engineering (Professor Shigeru Watanabe’s Laboratory, Faculty of Science and Engineering), received the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award at the Kochi Chemistry Symposium 2025.
This symposium is being held to serve as a forum for networking among all those involved in the field of chemistry, both within and outside Kochi Prefecture. It is also intended to foster lively discussion and the exchange of information, with the aim of further advancing chemical research in Kochi Prefecture and fostering new innovations originating from the prefecture through collaboration among industry, academia, and government stakeholders.
There were 48 poster presentations at this symposium. The Outstanding Presentation Award was established based on a comprehensive evaluation of the quality of the students’ research—including its novelty and originality, motivation, hypotheses, results, validity of conclusions, and the quality and quantity of data—as well as their presentation skills, such as their level of understanding, concise and clear explanations, appropriate responses to questions, and reflections on future directions and potential for further development.
Mr. Myochin presented on “Electroanalytical Chemistry × Health Science: Clinical Application of a Protocol for Identifying Stress Markers Using Salivary Ions,” while Mr. Shirotake presented on “Development of a Visual Detection Method for Bacteria Using Temperature-Responsive Polymer-Modified Bacteriophages.” Both were highly praised not only for their presentations but also for their precise responses during the Q&A sessions, which led to their receiving this award.
