Ko Kataoka, a second-year graduate student in the Department of Agricultural, Forestry, and Marine Sciences (Research Group of Associate Professor Shuhei Ogawa, Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry, and Marine Sciences), received the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award at the Kochi Chemistry Symposium 2025.
This symposium is being held as a forum for networking among all those involved in chemistry within and outside Kochi Prefecture. We hope that through lively discussion and the exchange of information, it will contribute to the further development of chemical research in Kochi Prefecture and lead to new innovations originating from Kochi through collaboration among industry, academia, and government stakeholders.
There were 48 poster presentations at this symposium. The Outstanding Presentation Award was established based on a comprehensive evaluation of the quality of the students’ research (novelty and originality of the research, motivation, hypotheses, validity of results and conclusions, and the quality and quantity of data) and presentation skills (the presenter’s level of understanding, concise and clear explanations, accurate responses to questions, and considerations regarding future developments and potential).
Mr. Kataoka presented a paper titled “Low-Temperature Electric Field-Assisted Propane Dehydrogenation Using Metal-Doped ZrO₂ Supported Catalysts.” He was highly commended not only for his presentation but also for his precise responses during the Q&A session, which led to this award.
