Tsugumi Sakurai, a first-year student in the Graduate School’s Department of Sports and Arts and Culture Co-creation, won the championship at the 18th All-Japan Women’s Open Wrestling Championships, held on October 12, 2025, in Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
This tournament is a nationwide women's wrestling competition that brings together the country's top athletes.
Sakurai competed in her first match since the 2024 Paris Olympics and claimed the title without conceding a single goal.
