"Sarsu Science Co., Ltd.," a startup spun off from Kochi University, and "Nakazawa Ujiie Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd." have entered into a capital and business alliance.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, a press conference was held to announce that “Salsu Science Co., Ltd.,” a startup spun off from Kochi University, and “Nakazawa Ujiie Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.” had entered into a capital and business alliance.

"Sars Science Co., Ltd." is a company established on November 1, 2022, to commercialize the results of pancreatic cancer research led by Associate Professor Keisuke Tanai of the Department of Gastroenterology at Kochi University ( Medical School). Pancreatic cancer is highly malignant, and even in countries with advanced medical systems, the five-year survival rate is reported to be 10% or less. The company is engaged in business activities aimed at the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and the development of new therapeutic drugs.

On the day of the press conference, attendees included Keisuke Taniuchi, Representative Director of Sars Science Co., Ltd. (Associate Professor at Kochi University); Kojiro Nakazawa, Representative Director of Nakazawa Shikei Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.; Masanori Tanaka, Representative Director of Kochi Industry-Academia Collaboration Capital Co., Ltd.; and Hiroyuki Uchida, President of Kochi University.During the press conference, it was noted that this partnership is expected to lead to the establishment of a system that holistically advances efforts from research and development through to societal implementation. It is hoped that this will accelerate the practical application of research findings and help spread innovations originating from Kochi to the world.

Going forward, the two parties will continue to further strengthen their industry-academia collaboration framework and contribute to the development of regional healthcare and the advancement of medical technology.
