With the integration of Marine Chemistry and Marine Bioscience fields as the basis of research, Kochi University is aiming at developing researchers who are able to pioneer interdisciplinary areas of Marine Science and Technology, and at building an advanced research center matching global standards. "Promotion Program for Young Scientists and COE for Innovation of Marine Science and Technology", supported by the Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in Fiscal Year 2010 (FY 2010).

2012.03.20	Assistant Professor Miura, one of the tenure track researchers of the IMT Program, has won "Denzaburo Miyadi Award" by the Ecological Society of Japan for his exceptional contribution to ecological sciences.

2011.08.24	Opening ceremony was held for a new laboratory in the Muroto Deep Seawater Laboratory of Kochi prefecture. The new laboratory was set up by the IMT Program for large-scale culture using the deep seawater with corporation of Kochi prefecture.
2011.08.23	The tenure track researchers of the IMT Program made presentations in "Bio Academic Forum" of the 10th International Bio Expo.
