From July 31 (Sat.) to August 1 (Sun.), 2021, seminar for high school students, "Hirameki☆Tokimeki Science - Welcome to University Laboratory - KAKENHI", (topic: "From Genes to Medicine - Let's Learn How Microorganisms Make Medicine" will be held at the Kochi University Marine Core Research Center on Sunday, January 1.

This program is designed for high school students and will first provide an introductory course on microbiology, including basic knowledge of microorganisms and the production and application of microbe-derived natural compounds. Then, participants will conduct experiments to cultivate bacteria attached to their own bodies and learn through experience that humans coexist with a variety of microorganisms. Students will also observe bacteria that produce natural products and conduct genetic experiments related to the production of those natural compounds, as well as DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods. Through these lectures and practical training, students will deeply examine bacteria as producers of useful compounds and learn about the importance and applications of microorganisms. All interested parties are welcome to attend.

令和3年7月31日（土）～8月1日（日）、高知大学海洋コア総合研究センターで、ひらめき☆ときめきサイエンス～ようこそ大学の研究室へ～KAKENHI「遺伝子から薬まで－微生物による薬の作り方について学びましょう！」を開催します。

本プログラムは、高校生を対象とし、まず微生物の基礎知識や微生物由来天然化合物の生産と応用など、微生物学の入門講座を行います。その後、自分の体に付いている菌の培養実験を行い、人間が様々な微生物と共存していることを体験学習します。また、天然物を生産する細菌の観察や、それら天然化合物の生産に関わる遺伝子実験や、DNAポリメラーゼ連鎖反応（PCR法）も行います。これらの講義及び実習を通じて、有用化合物の生産者である細菌について深く考察し、微生物の重要性と応用について学びます。興味のある方は、是非ご参加ください。
