Purpose and Activities of the Center

[Purpose]

The purpose is to promote education in the fields of mathematics, data science, and AI at Kochi University, as well as the research that underpins these fields.

[Job Description]

(1) Plan, develop, and implement a literacy-level mathematics, data science, and AI education program within the general education curriculum.
(2) Plan, develop, and implement courses at the applied foundation level that can be offered university-wide.
(3) Collaborate with each faculty to discuss the composition of applied foundation-level courses tailored to their respective specializations, provide support for their development, and cooperate in their implementation.
(4) Develop online content for the courses specified in the preceding items to enhance the ability of graduate students, working professionals, and others to utilize mathematics, data science, and AI.
(5) We will explore ways to utilize mathematics, data science, and AI to address various challenges faced by companies and local governments within Kochi Prefecture, and we will work to implement project-based learning (PBL) and active learning through group work that incorporates these approaches into education.
(6) We will promote faculty research in data science as the foundation for enhancing education in mathematics, data science, and AI.
