At the 72nd Chugoku-Shikoku Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships, Erika Yamanaka, a third-year student in the Faculty of Education, won the women’s triple jump and secured a spot in the All-Japan Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships.

 From Friday, May 11, 2018, to Sunday, May 13, 2018, the Track and Field Club hosted the 72nd Chugoku-Shikoku Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships (organized by the Chugoku-Shikoku Intercollegiate Track and Field Federation) at the Kochi Prefectural Haruno General Sports Park Track and Field Stadium in Haruno-cho, Kochi City.
 A total of 911 athletes from 48 universities in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions participated in the tournament, which featured intense competition. The winners of each event earned the right to compete in the All-Japan Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships (All-Japan Intercollegiate Championships), to be held in September in Todoroki, Kanagawa.
 For our university’s track and field team, Erika Yamanaka (3rd year, Faculty of Education) won the women’s triple jump by setting a new personal best, thereby securing a spot in the All-Japan Intercollegiate Championships. Ms. Yamanaka also placed second in the women’s long jump, achieving excellent results in two events. Additionally, our team placed in a total of eight events across both men’s and women’s divisions.

Women’s 10,000m: Kana Asahi (4th-year student, Faculty of Humanities) 6th place
Women’s 400m Hurdles: Ayami Otsuka (2nd year, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) 7th place
Women’s 10,000m Race Walk: Miho Itoyama (1st year, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) 4th place
Women’s Long Jump: Erika Yamanaka (3rd year, Faculty of Education) 2nd place
Women’s Triple Jump: Erika Yamanaka (3rd year, Faculty of Education) 1st place
