◆We have been registered as a Japan Heritage Supporter University
Release Date:
On April 10, 2025, our university was registered as a Japan Heritage Supporter University under the "Japan Heritage Supporter Registration System for Higher Education Institutions" administered by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
This program collaborates with the councils of each Japan Heritage-designated region to register higher education institutions that engage in vigorous and proactive activities related to Japan Heritage. By compiling and publishing a list of these institutions through the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the program is expected to facilitate information sharing among them and contribute to the further development of their initiatives.
Since 2016, Kochi University—led primarily by faculty members from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences—has been supporting initiatives related to the Japan Heritage site “From Forest Railways to Japan’s Premier Yuzu Road” in the Naka-Gei region of Kochi Prefecture (Nabari Town, Tano Town, Yasuda Town, Kitagawa Village, and Umaji Village). The results of research conducted in the Naka-Gei region have contributed to the preservation of cultural resources through the establishment of the “Japan Heritage Yuzu Road Museum”—utilizing the university’s satellite classroom in Yasuda Town—as well as through the publication of books and exchanges with Taiwan. Our recent registration as a Japan Heritage Supporter University is a recognition of these efforts.
