◆The completion ceremony for the Certified Nurse Education Program at Kochi University Hospital for the 2024 academic year was held.

Release Date:

In recent years, due to the impact of COVID-19, the importance of routine infection control measures in medical institutions and social welfare facilities—as well as measures to prevent the spread of infections when outbreaks occur—has become even more critical. Furthermore, the need for infection control measures against respiratory infections such as COVID-19 and influenza, as well as drug-resistant bacteria, is growing increasingly urgent and has become a nationwide challenge.

However, the number of certified nurses specializing in infection control within Kochi Prefecture is limited, making it urgent to establish a system for training personnel in the region.

Against this backdrop, Kochi University Hospital launched the prefecture’s first Certified Nurse Education Program (Infection Control) in fiscal year 2023, and the second cohort of students has been engaged in specialized training for one year, from June 2024 to May 2025.

All seven participants in the second cohort have now completed the program, and a graduation ceremony was held on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

We will continue to contribute the outcomes of our talent development efforts through this program to local healthcare and advance initiatives aimed at the development of regional healthcare.
