◆We accepted three international students from Vietnam-Japan University and implemented an internship education program.

　From May 12 to June 6, 2025, Kochi University hosted three undergraduate students from the Vietnam Japan University (VJU) at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and conducted an approximately four-week internship program.

　This program was implemented for the first time based on the inter-university academic exchange agreement and the memorandum of understanding regarding student exchange signed with Vietnam University on May 10, 2024, and represents one of the concrete outcomes of the educational and research collaboration between the two universities.

　The group we welcomed this time consists of three undergraduate students from the Faculty of Smart Agriculture and Sustainability (ESAS) at Japan-Vietnam University. All three are motivated students with a strong interest in agricultural production and agribusiness, and they are considering pursuing graduate studies in the future.

　During the program, we participated in a variety of activities based at the university’s Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry, and Marine Sciences.

　　・Lectures and practical training: Smart agriculture, food safety engineering, genetic experiments, smart aquaculture, etc.

　　・Field training: Shimanto Mihara Vegetable Farm (Ltd.), Inoue Lime Industry Co., Ltd., etc.

　　・Facility tours: IoP model home, state-of-the-art agricultural facilities

　　・Cultural Experiences: Exchange programs designed to deepen understanding of local culture and Japanese daily life

　On the final day, June 6, a presentation session and graduation ceremony were held, during which the students delivered presentations in English to share the insights and experiences they had gained during their stay. There was also a lively exchange of views with faculty, staff, and local stakeholders, making it a valuable opportunity to share the fruits of their learning.

　This program contributes to building a foundation for sustained international collaboration with Vietnam-Japan University and is a significant initiative as part of Kochi University’s efforts to cultivate global talent.

　Going forward, our university will continue to strengthen our partnerships with universities overseas, particularly in Asian countries, in order to further enhance our international education and research programs.
