◆Regarding the signing of a cooperation agreement between Kochi University and AEON Co., Ltd.: Building a disaster prevention model to respond to the Nankai Trough mega-earthquake through "industry, academia, government, and the private sector"

Kochi University (President: Hiroyuki Uchida) and Aeon Co., Ltd. (Director and Representative Executive Officer and President: Akio Yoshida) signed a partnership agreement on Friday, July 25, with the aim of collaborating in areas such as disaster prevention and the environment to contribute to the development of a sustainable society in the region.

(2) Matters related to disaster preparedness stockpiles and rotating stockpiles

(5) Other matters related to initiatives necessary to achieve the objectives of this Agreement
Under this agreement, Kochi University and Aeon will collaborate to improve disaster response capabilities—including flood mitigation measures—in preparation for a major Nankai Trough earthquake, positioning Aeon Mall Kochi as a Business Continuity Management (BCM) model. Going forward, we plan to conduct disaster preparedness drills at Aeon Mall Kochi, as well as awareness and educational activities for local residents on disaster preparedness and the rolling stock system.
We will also work with local businesses and residents to develop circular economy models that are closely integrated into daily life. In addition, we will collaborate with Aeon Delight Co., Ltd., which is responsible for Aeon’s facility management (management of facilities and their surrounding environments), on environmental and energy-saving initiatives.
Kochi University and Aeon will continue to strengthen their partnership so that they can further contribute to improving the quality of life for local residents, enhancing disaster preparedness, and reducing environmental impact.
