◆President Huang Jianfeng of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology in China and his delegation paid a courtesy call on President Uketani

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, a delegation led by President Huang Jianfeng of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology in China paid a visit to President Hiroyuki Uketada.
Shaanxi University of Science and Technology is a comprehensive university located in Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, China. It traces its origins to the Beijing Institute of Light Industry, established in 1958, and was renamed to its current name in 2002. The university specializes in education and research in the field of light industry and comprises eight schools (departments), including the School of Materials Chemistry and Engineering, with a student body of over 24,000.Since the signing of an agreement in 1994, our university has maintained ongoing exchanges with Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, primarily in the fields of science, agriculture, and engineering.
President Huang Jianfeng, who previously spent time in Japan as a research student, has been aiming to expand and deepen cooperation with partner universities in Japan since assuming the presidency in January 2025, which led to this visit.
During the meeting, President Uchida expressed his hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further deepen the long-standing friendship with Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, noting that reliable international partners are essential for realizing our university’s vision of becoming “a university that supports and transforms the region.” President Huang Jianfeng then expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome, and the two exchanged views on future collaboration.
During the exchange, positive discussions were held regarding the promotion of sending our university’s doctoral students to their university, the promotion of short-term cultural and academic exchanges, and the potential for faculty exchanges in fields such as materials science and chemical engineering.
Following the courtesy visit, a tour of the Hydrothermal Chemistry Laboratory affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Engineering was conducted, making this a valuable opportunity that is expected to promote future exchanges between the two universities.
