◆Nankoku City and Kochi University Sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Supporting Higher Education Through the Hometown Tax Donation Program

 On Thursday, October 23, 2025, Nankoku City and Kochi University held a signing ceremony for a “Memorandum of Understanding Regarding a Higher Education Support Project Utilizing the Hometown Tax Donation System” at Kochi University’s Monobe Campus.

 This Memorandum of Understanding is based on the “Agreement on Collaborative Projects between Kochi University and Nankoku City” (signed on November 27, 2002) and aims to support Faculty of Agriculture and Marine Science educational, research, and community Faculty of Agriculture and Marine ScienceMedical SchoolMedical SchoolMedical School HospitalMedical SchoolMedical School Hospital, Faculty of Agriculture and Marine Science through the use of the Hometown Tax Donation Program.

 When donors make a "Furusato Nozei" donation to Nankoku City to support the university, a portion of that donation is allocated to Kochi University and used to support student learning and community engagement activities, as described below.

Graduate School Support for Medical School and Graduate School

Improving the Educational Environment for Interns and Residents

Promoting Research on Community Healthcare and Advanced Medical Care

Support for Nursing Education

Support for medical Graduate School, residents, and faculty in areas such as education, research, and community healthcare

[ Faculty of Agriculture and Marine Science

 Faculty of Agriculture and Marine Science leverages the rich natural environment of Kochi Prefecture, which benefits from the Kuroshio Current, to conduct education and research in the fields of agriculture and marine science.

 In fiscal year 2023, we Faculty to promote the digital transformation (DX) of primary industries based on data science. Through this initiative, we are fostering highly skilled professionals capable of contributing across the entire spectrum of industries, from primary to sixth-sector industries.

 In addition, as part of our efforts to strengthen ties with the local community, we hold the "Monobe Campus Open House" every November to introduce our educational and research activities to local residents.

 Your support will be used for the following purposes.

Support for Improving the Learning Environment

Support for Community Outreach Activities

Research Support

Disaster Response Support

In addition, support for educational, research, and community engagement activities by students, Graduate School, and faculty and staff
