◆The 72nd Yosakoi Festival was held at the Kochi University performance venue.
Release Date:
On August 10th and 11th, 2025, the "72nd Yosakoi Festival Kochi University Performance Venue" was held at our Asakura Campus.
This year marks the third time we have set up a performance stage. Our aim is to create a space where local residents can come and feel closer to the university, and to create an opportunity for alumni to gather at their alma mater by holding the "Yosakoi Festival," which many students enjoyed during their time at the university, on campus. With these objectives in mind, we set up a performance stage on our campus for two days, creating a space to deepen the connections between the community, the university, and our alumni.
On the day of the event, the university president gave an opening address, and 12 stalls lined the main street, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Over the two days, more than 1,900 dancers from 26 teams, including many student teams and alumni from our university, as well as teams from outside Kochi Prefecture, showcased spectacular performances on the main street of the campus lined with palm trees.
Furthermore, the dancers who performed with wonderful dances and smiles were presented with original wooden medals designed by university students and made by students from the affiliated special needs school, by the university president and other officials.
The event was run collaboratively by students and university staff, and attracted over 2,100 attendees, including local residents and alumni, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.
Our university will continue to pursue various initiatives with the aim of becoming a university that "supports and transforms the local community."
