◆Students from India and Vietnam invited through the Sakura Science Program paid a courtesy call on President Ujita and others

On Monday, December 15, 2025, eight undergraduate and graduate students from Maharana Pratap University of Horticulture in India, Vietnam-Japan University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology,Thai Nguyen University, Hanoi National University of Education, paid a courtesy call on President Hiroyuki Ueda, Executive Director Takatoshi Endo (in charge of General Affairs, Planning, and Crisis Management), and Executive Director Yasuhiko Tsue (in charge of Education).
This program is being conducted by the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Marine Sciences at our university, which was selected for the Sakura Science Program, from December 14 to 20.
Under the theme “Kochi’s Next-Generation Protected Horticulture: Internet of Plants (IoP) Experience Program,” this initiative aims to foster talent who will shape the future of agriculture in India and Vietnam. Participants will learn by experiencing cutting-edge initiatives in next-generation protected horticulture in Kochi, with the goal of deepening their interest in and understanding of science and technology in the agricultural sector.
President Uchida extended a warm welcome, saying, “I hope this visit will be a meaningful one through the various experiential learning activities offered by the program.” There was also a lively exchange of views regarding the challenges facing Kochi Prefecture and the agricultural sectors of India and Vietnam.
