Message from the Center Director
Mission: To contribute to the formation of an SRU by ensuring the quality of teacher education through the coordination of teacher training functions at Kochi University, and by working to improve the qualifications of teachers in Kochi Prefecture in collaboration with educational institutions and the Board of Education within the prefecture.
The Kochi University Center for Teacher Education was established in fiscal year 2015 to oversee teacher training (including open-license programs) and certification education at Kochi University, as well as to serve as an organization responsible for teacher education in the local community.
In the field of teacher education, we oversee the university-wide teacher education program at Kochi University, including the development, implementation, and improvement of the curriculum; the organization of teaching practicums and caregiving experiences; support for career development; and the implementation of institutional research (IR) related to teacher education.
In the field of professional certification education, I am responsible for offering courses and conducting practical training related to obtaining curator certification and school librarian certification.
With regard to community contribution and teacher education in the region, we oversee the Kochi CST Training and Development Project and the Kochi Teacher Education Consortium.
We aim to continue evolving and growing as a hub for teacher training and certification programs at Kochi University, as well as for community outreach activities through teacher education, and as a think tank dedicated to education in the region. We sincerely appreciate your continued support.
To all students aspiring to become teachers
The act of teaching is a deliberate effort by teachers to guide and support children’s independent learning. For this reason, the role of a teacher carries a heavy responsibility, and teachers must be capable of providing education to children based on a high level of professional expertise.
At the same time, teaching is a uniquely rewarding profession that allows educators to grow alongside their students. As family and children’s environments become increasingly complex and diverse, the role of teachers in engaging with families and students through educational activities is becoming ever more important, making it a profession of great social significance.
To all of you at Kochi University who aspire to become teachers, I hope that you will aim not merely to become teachers, but to acquire the knowledge and skills befitting the professional field of education, and to become teachers who are passionate about shaping the education of the children who will lead the next generation and creating the schools of the future.
The Teacher Education Center is an organization dedicated to supporting students who aspire to become teachers. In addition to offering courses and providing teaching practicums to help students obtain teaching licenses, we actively provide support for preparing for teacher certification exams. If you have any questions or concerns as you pursue a career in teaching, please feel free to consult with the Center’s faculty or staff. Let’s work together toward your goal of becoming a teacher.
