The “Shimanto Seaweed Eco-Innovation Co-Creation Center,” jointly proposed by Kochi University as the lead institution with academic, corporate, and local government partners, was selected for the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) COI-NEXT program in the regional co-creation field.

　Prof. Masanori Hiraoka served as project leader, and Assoc. Prof. Takushi Namba served as deputy project leader. The project aims to rebuild seaweed production in Shimanto City and create new industries based on seaweed materials.

　高知大学を代表機関として、京都大学などの学術機関、企業、四万十市および高知県が共同提案した「しまんと海藻エコイノベーション共創拠点」が、JST共創の場形成支援プログラム（COI-NEXT）の地域共創分野（育成型）として採択されました。

　本プロジェクトでは、平岡雅規教授がプロジェクトリーダー、難波卓司准教授がプロジェクトリーダー補佐を務めます。四万十市における海藻生産の再生と、海藻素材を活用した新産業創出を目指します。
