A collaborative research group including Prof. Tetsuya Sakurai of the Multidisciplinary Science Division published research findings in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) online on September 23, 2025, Japan time.

　The study clarified that Euglena uses numerous introns that follow unconventional sequence rules in addition to the conventional rules widely observed in eukaryotes.

　総合科学系複合領域科学部門の櫻井哲也教授が参加する共同研究グループの研究成果が、日本時間2025年9月23日付でProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences（PNAS）オンライン版に掲載されました。

　本研究では、ユーグレナ藻のmRNAスプライシングにおいて、従来の真核生物で広く見られる配列ルールに加えて、全く異なるルールに従うイントロンが多数併用されていることが明らかにされました。
